How does a Book Club work?

Join us for 4-6 weeks as we read at our own pace, discuss on our Book Club App and meet the author live for Q&A.

The mystical is making its way into the mainstream once more…

Our cultural craving for all things transcendent, mysterious, sacred and spiritual is taking centre stage. And that's a great thing.

At least, Belle Tindall-Riley, a Gen Z, Christian academic thinks so. Not only does she believe that those cravings for the supernatural are good, but that they're the truest thing about us all.

In The Sacred Ache, Belle takes a read of this cultural moment; exploring the spiritual practices that are making their way into the mainstream and seeking to identify the soul-cravings that are fuelling them as well as the ways our culture is distorting them.

She then puts the wildest, most mystical and soul-fulfilling aspects of Christianity on display for all to see. Rounding off by honestly and vulnerably explaining why Jesus fulfils every one of her spiritual longings, and then some.

Our next read is Girls by Freya India.

Starting March 6th 2027

Girls by Freya India is the wake-up call every Christian needs.

Our next Book Club will be reading Girls by Freya India - a challenging but important book that explores the pressures shaping the lives of young women today.

As one review puts it:

“Girls is not always an easy read, but it is an important one. For anyone involved in the lives of young women seeking to understand the pressures facing today’s girls, it provides both a warning and an invitation: a warning about the forces shaping young lives, and an invitation to offer a better story, one rooted in truth, belonging and the transforming love of Christ.”

We’re looking forward to exploring these themes together - considering what today’s girls are facing, how we as Christian women can respond, and how we can help offer a better story, rooted in truth, belonging and the transforming love of Christ.

How do we choose our books?

Our books are selected by our Book Club team; Nay Dawson, Catrin Trollope, Paula Taylor, Jo True and Anna Jones. We try to choose books from two out of the three categories each time…

1. Female authors or co-authors

2. A book that encourages or equips us in evangelism

3. A book that engages with a topical issue from a female perspective.

Here are some of the books we’ve read since 2019…

“It gave me the actual motivation to read 'alongside' others. There is a sense of gentle accountability. The shared learning experience is really helpful.”
